waterbox? 04 VS. 05
Not sure if anyone has ever noticed but the 04 and 05 have diffrient waterboxes the 05 has a cross type baffle on the inlet and outlet? Any performance diffrience between the two?

This info is direct from Yamaha.
The 05-06 waterbox has an extra baffle, so an extra amount of back pressure, but does produce 1 decibel LESS noise for emissions testing.
Be extra carefull with fuel octane when running: heads, timing key, and new waterbox. Probably a good time to stick the freeflow in, with that mod to the riva freeflow to get the rpm's back up(Don't know what that mod is, but there is a mod apparently!)

allready have the free floe (on order) so is there a mod you can do to it to get the rpms back? If so anyone done it?

I made my own f/f out of 3" pvc, cut down 2 couplings and added a 3x2 bushing (opened up to 2.5") for back pressure. I am going to try it today.

I wanted to take some pics of mine but I didn't get a chance. The reducer bushing worked great (or at least so far). I had 60 more rpms than with the original s/s and it seems to have the hole shot of the aluminum f/f. If the 05-06's have an extra baffle in the water box then the bushing may not be needed but for my 01 it definitely helped. Before, when I used the aluminun f/f it dropped my rpm's off by about 70. Now, with the bushing, I have that back plus 15 or 20 more. I just hope I don't blow a hose off since that pvc is a little more slippery.

i put 5200 ( alot ) around all of the connections for that reason. The hose clams alone scared me.
