    Ice on Lake Anna

Took a ride today on Lake Anna here in VA. We put in at the state park and there was so much ice on the lake that we could only go a few hundred yards from the state park ramp. Most of the ice was very thin on the surface only.

Water temp today was 39 degrees!

For your sake, I sure hope it warms up quickly. I definitely was not complaining, but riding with ice all around is very surreal.

yea i know. my first ride of the year i usually try to make it out there when there are still big icebergs like 15 feet tall or so. i usually ride out to them, go sit on it have the doo in front of my and have someone take a picture. gotta love it

instead of trying to ride in fresh water at lake anna --- come down here to hampton and get in the bay and salt water -- with the cold snap here in VA the bay is still clear

you need to get access to the private side. it never freezes over. the nuke reactor cooling water dump keeps it in the high 50s
