    Porting thoughts....

I have seriously been considering porting my cylinders as soon as I can get them out of hock....

I am thinking it would be a shame NOT to do this while I have it apart already. What I plan on doing is using the templates you can get from a certain company I won't mention because I don't know if it's a conflict with IR.

Everyone I have talked to who has done this has seen real results. I have to go this route because I simply do not have $450 and up to pay someone like Tim Judge.

I do have experience with a Dremel tool from my automotive days...

    Anyone have thoughts on this?

In your situation, why not go for it? It would be something to call your own, and if it turns out it runs great and you don't snag a ring in the exhaust port after 100+ hrs, start your own business!

Haha... No.. I don't care HOW good I am with porting. I will NEVER do it on someone else's ski. I don't need the liability.

LOL, Nice jab about the rings in the exhaust port... I think that will no longer be a problem... Or at least I hope not!

in all honesty, I`d leave them alone, put it back together and ride... how m uch are you going to gain? and with newly redone cylinders, one slip and FCK... just my thoughts...

I`m sure porting will have it`s plus`s and minus.

Well if you can afford to "practice" on your cylinders then go ahead. My guess is that if you can't afford to send them out, then you can't afford to screw them up. If it was as easy as buying a dremel tool, we would all be doing it . I run a body shop, when people try to paint their own car and bring it to me to "fix" their handy work it costs them twice as much for us to undo what they messed up. Everyone has their trade, for a reason. Just my 2 cents.

Well, not in hock... Just not totally paid for. Once I pay the work off, I get them, and the new pistons back...
