Performance question 1991 WaveRunner LX
I didn't know what to expect, but I was expecting more then this. I just bought a 1991 WaveRunner LX 650 motor with 42 hp. It is sluggish getting on plane. Once on plane I would guess that if runs about 35 MPH. Is this normal?

Does anyone have any experience with these? How fast are they? How long does it take to plane. This one takes about about 5 seconds. My SeaDoo GTX with 130 hp is on plane in less then 2 seconds. I know that 42 hp does not compare to 130 hp, but I thought it would be a little quicker then it is.
Thanks for any help, John

I'm thinking the top speed is about right for that unit and age but The on plane time I am not sure about, I would stick to your other post because it does have some issues that need addressing

I also have the 650 lx. I noticed that when I first ran it it had the same probs you have. I think it was the altitude,,,7500 ft.
On the next trip we took was to the river....apox 500ft. The ski ran great for what it is. The speed sounds about right. With one person it did very well as far as plaining. I'm not the pro. But it sounds like you may have a jetting prob. Hope this helps
