2005 First Quarter PWC Sales
I was reading about the first quarter 2005 sales of PWC in a trade magazine. Depressing for some of the manufacturers. BRP is still on top, but barely. with only a 39% market share. That is a 16.3% decline from last year. (was 48.2%) Yammi moved up to a 37% market share from 27% a year ago...a 41.6% increase ! Kawi only has a 9% market share, down 12% from 2004. Honda 8.2% and Polaris at 6.8% (selling their leftover skis). I don't see how Kawi and Honda can even justify investing in new product. Kawi only sold 626 PWC in the US, Honda only 566. No wonder the aftermarket shops don't want to make performance parts for Hondas. No market.
Yamaha must be selling a lot of their entry level 4-stroke boats. Wish I knew why...demoed them and I was not impressed...they are selling for sticker and you can get much more for your money with an upscale PWC at a discounted price. Go figure !!

Like the old XL700 used to make Yamaha big bucks, I bet that VX110 sells like hot cakes.
Low cost of operation, 4 strokes for low price, unbeatable mileage, the dream for renters or the average Joe.

Hey Richard, why dont you post this on the ultra 150 board. I would like to see what excuse will ultrabadboy69 come up with about this.

I cant see why the yamalog four strokes would be big sellers. Those skis didnt impress me. The only thing that I would be interested in is the 1300r with the improvements made to that ski for 05 but I would rather have an rxp instead.

I sure hope they don't impress you, but don't be surprised they sell so well.

Nitro; I was going to post this on the Ultra 150 board last night, but got side tracked by CP. He makes my blood boil !!
Mr. 11 (sounds good?)
The new Yammi VX110 skis would be a decent buy at MSRP... IF all skis sold for list price. Since they don't, and the VX seems to be holding at MSRP, they are not worth the $$ in my opinion.

I wonder how much butt kissing he had to do so Steve would let him back on that site.

I can tell you why the VX110 sells everything they make; but first you have to take into consideration this site is for folks that want to squeak every little ounce of performance out of their machine...most PWC folks are your average "just want to have fun" on the water people, and this $7K machine fits the bill, it's what a 50 MPH machine, good looking, and the kids love it! I wish this machine was out when I spent 10K on my wife's HO Cruiser; she would have been just as happy with the VX110, and 3K left in my pocket for go fast parts for my 05 RXP...just my 02 cents...

Man that's a depressing sight. SD sales take a huge hit when they start making good skis finally. That doesn't make new R&D look so good for SD either.
