RAD Flywheel carnage..with pics
Well here is the story.....
took the XLT out weekend before last, was trying to get the rpms up while turning the box stock 14/20 dynafly, was only getting 7400 to 7500 rpms.
was turning it over 7700 weekend before, then I seized the 3rd cylinder.
had a new piston in by Thurs (thanks Carl), cylinder was o.k., put back together and took out on Sat with a 13/20sb in the 05 pump, could only get 7000 rpms, put the old pump back in with a 13/19.
started ski on trailer before putting it in the water, started and ran fine. put ski in the water and would not start, somtimes it would back fire on me.
so to make a long story short, checked compression, fuel, and spark, has all three, so mmmmm must be somthing to do with timing.
took out the pipes and the front mag cover and WHA-LA...
IM THINKING IT MIGHT BE THE STARTER BENDIX..
ANYBODY HAVE ANY EXTRA FLYWHEEL LAYING AROUND....
MAYBE I COULD JUST JBWELD IT BACK TOGETHER!!!!...

DAMN!!. it looks like something was rubbing the inside of the wheel. Check your charging system winding

Looks like your stator was rubbing on the flywheel too, might need a
new one too.

the stator looks o.k.....the next flywheel will be a total loss anyways..
Fernando, are you still selling them??

I got a brand new stock total loss and re-balanced by RAD. 1 pound lighter than a charging. Give me a ring 713-875-1812

I'd replace the PICKUP at a minimum, and the stator as well.

I have checked everything that is up in the cover and nothing is missing, I think it was rubbing on those metal tabs that stick up from the stator windings.
thats all i could see that was rubbing up there. but i have another stator and pickup assembly that im going to put back in.
does anybody know how much RAD charges to lighten and take the magnets out of a stock flywheel??
does anybody have a RAD total loss they want to sell?
