    Cracked Exhaust Help

I have a 98 GTX. The exhaust has a small (1/2 inch) crack spraying water into the hull. The crack is on the bend away from any flanges.

Anyone have this problem before. Seems too small to warrant replacement. How to fix? Weld?? JBWeld? Peanut butter and zip ties? Ok I was kidding about the JB Weld.

Anyone have any ideas? Thinking about getting out again soon.
    Thanks
    Gary

Take it off and have it tig welded, or get a good used one and replace it.

I've never heard of a 951 pipe cracking. Was the ski involved in a wreck?

I have a brand-new quality headpipe if you are interested.

Thanks for the info. I have only had the ski for a year, short crack on the bend. Will probably pull it off and have it welded.

Need to dig them out from behind my camper first.

    exhaust removal

Is your GTX a 951? I just pulled the upper pipe off a 01 RXDI. It had a broken bolt in the center mount. That pipe is a pain to remove. The flange at the manifold is 3 bolts and a stud in the back, you don't need to remove the nut just back it off, that hole is sloted. I had to use a torch to remove two of the bolts at the manifold. There is a hose at the bottom of the pipe that's also a pain to remove. Then I used a welder and welded a nut to the broken bolt and it came right out. I need to get a new gasket and put it back togather.

Hmm...you could have said that. It must be a RFI? Because there weren't any 800 engined GTXs in 98.

If it's cracked on the outside, it can be cracked inside too, After you weld it pressure test it, if it leaks, then you should just get a new one.

I overheated my XPL real bad one day Strainer kept filling up with sand and organics on the St Johns. Anyway it got so hot the paint cracked but it never cracked to the point of leaking.. Weirdest thing I ever saw. Shiny metal in cracks that dont go through
