    130-255

    im new to the 4-tec world. what are the differences between the 130 hp units and 255 hp units. Can a x charger be bolted on to a 130 NA motor. I believe the pistons and cam are different. It seems the head and valves are all the same.

    you can put a supercharger on a NA motor however it will require alot of work and $$

    double gear set on crank for SC overdrive gears
    camshaft
    ECU
    pistons

    those are your motor differences....

    the rest of the horsepower you still need to get a supercharger and an intercooler and a different intake manifold since the one you have the throtle body is in the wrong spot

    With a turbo, you can omit the PTO cover and double gear set on crank for SC overdrive gears. But you will also need a 159-mm pump, impeller and larger driveshaft... Ron

    dont HAVE to change the pump... sure you'd see some gains speedwise from it... but it doens't make the HP...

    you can run the stock driveshaft/pump on a bigger motor... just gonna have to get a prop pitched


    sea doo stud....YES... i took a stock 130 HP motor... built it up for turbo 300+ HP.... then took it apart and converted it to supercharged for purposes of selling it

    Don't the regular 130-hp GTIs have the old plastic pump and only the rentals have the metal pump? If the plastic pump didn't hold up with the 185-hp engines, I doubt it would last very long with 300-hp... Ron

    valid point Ron... overlooked the composition of the pumps...

    could either keep the stock driveshaft and put a metal pump with the small stuff in there...
    could also send a stainless wear ring right into the plastic pump... stiffens it up nicely...

    and what i'm wondering is, maybe you know? ... i dont. never even occured to me, can you even put a RXP driveshaft or RXT driveshaft in a GTI? i dont know the length of the driveshaft in a GTI. Something must interchange into there since people have built turbo GTIs, unless they were making custom driveshafts, or using the thin stock driveshaft. hmm
