Thread: Laptop Help

ok all you computer peeps I need some advice.
My laptop screen just broke, I am typing with one hand while holding the screen with the other. It still works, by that I mean I can see everything, but it wont stay in place. it either flops closed or all the way open to flat backwards, no where in between.
Question is, can I get this fixed or should I buy a new one...This one is 4 years old and has been great..but if the cost is too much to fix....I feel it is better to replace.....

Probably cheaper to replace it. Normally you have to replace the entire shell to fix a bad hinge.
You might possibly find a good shell on ebay, then swap over your parts.
A final option would be to contact the manufacturer to see if there was any type if recall. Where I work we had trouble with hinges on Micron laptops (recalled) and had to replace about 15 shells.
What make/model is it?

What brand / model? Could be a common problem with an easy fix.

it is a HP Pavillion zv6000. My G/F found that there was a recall on the DV series but nothing on the ZV series.

I don't have parts for that model, but if airborn has a chassis with a burned motherboard, then you can swap the hinge plates and parts simple....Just get yourself some small screwdrivers and remove the parts you need from the broken one.....its SIMPLE, just take your time and the screws are SMALL!
