    Fast-food outsourcing gets trial run in Charlotte

    Associated Press CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- A fast-food giant is trying to determine whether itís easier to place your drive-through order with someone around the world instead of around the corner.
    Jack in the Box Inc. has been testing a program in some Charlotte-area restaurants that outsources order-taking to a call center elsewhere.
    Company spokeswoman Kathleen Anthony told the Charlotte Observer that the technology is intended to improve speed, accuracy and service. The San Diego-based restaurant chain hopes the process will free up on-site employees to process orders, accept payment and address other needs.
    Anthony said the orders are routed to a Texas call center operated by Bronco Communications, and she said some orders may be routed outside of the country.

    I was recently exposed to this as well. I was trying to get info on some stock that I sold and needed it quick. I got on the phone and called the number that had a STL area code. I got a lady on the phone that said her name was, for the sake of argument, i.e Jane Smith.yea right, her accent was definitely indian. So im asking her if I ask her where her office is so that i can pick up the info. here office was in the Phillipeens I asked her to transfer me to another person cause i could not understand her and she could not understand me, that and she sounded like she was reading off of a cue card or something. I get the next person and hes no better and guess what, he said his name was something like i.e. John Smith. I am assuming that they are using american names to get a better repour from the customer? It sucks none the less and its getting rediculous

    I will refuse to patronize a business that does this. '

    On the same point, I refuse to use the automated check out stations at retail stores. I figure that's someone's job they are doing away with.
