Found this here in Virginia Beach. I was riding the intercoastal waterway and came up on this fellow.. I made a few circles around him, then saw his bands and not so much flat head and decided to let him go...lol Seen alot of water snakes, but when i saw his head and the bands.. i knew it was a water moccasin...

This is what we see every year when they come in close to shore while migrating south. Singer Island is on the north side of the Palm Beach Inlet, so you can bet a few a these guys are cruising the Intracoastal too...especially the Bulls which are known to venture into brackish & freshwater.

Loads of Sharks Cruising Around South Florida

    Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Ah, it’s that time of year again. Loads of sharks are migrating along the south Florida coast, forcing beaches to close. Specifically, around Singer Island. It’s not just one shark here or there… at least eighty sharks have been spotted in the area, and more are showing up every day.
It’s standard policy on Singer Island to close the beaches when sharks are in the area. The life guards don’t want you to swim, but you’re allowed to get your feet wet.
The sharks around Singer are mostly spinner and reef sharks, but mind your toes… there’s always the occasional hammerhead or bull shark.
