    2005 xlt 1200 question

    I have a yamaha xlt1200 and i've done some performance to it and im only hitting around 62.3 and 63.5 miles on gps. and what i've done to it is

    yamaha riva ride plate and its cut
    stock carbs re jetted and bore out to 44 mm
    stock head cuted to 165 compression
    stinger 3
    reeds
    prop and cone

    if anybody knows what else can i do to it i'll take any advise. thanks

    165 psi??? that is very close to a partial race gas set-up. I hope that you are using at LEAST 93 octane in that.

    yes im using 93 with oil mixed.

    Welcome leojr !!!

    That Stinger III will hurt your top end some. Try the stock pipe with the jetworks mod.

    Thanks for the welcome. I tried the stock pipe with the D plate and it was running the same. you think that i should play with the carbs.

    What are your rpms ?

    i tried two sparks plugs the stock one and the B8RES. The stock one was giving about 7120 at 62.3 and the B8RES 7010 to 7110 at 61.9 to 62.0 on gps and tach.

    You may want to try the BR9ES with that compression.

    but those spark plugs there not to hot for the pistons.

    They are actually a colder plug
