Chernobyl Disaster Anniversary
Hard to believe 20 years has gone by. God rest all the souls who perished and those who are still suffering.
Someone posted this girl's website on Riva awhile ago, but the link was no longer valid.
I finally found a good link for it.

It's best to remember catastrophe. Great photography. I feel humbled with all our designer problems of today when you face someone less fortunate's realities. God bless those affected.
Thanks for keeping me right-sized.

Yes, I remember it well too. I was only 17.
3 Miles island could have been the same thing.
Whats sad is that, I don't think this will be the last. It will happen again somewhere.
Here's a good article I read a few years ago of a girl who did a journal over her own tour there on a motorcycle.

I've actually been to Kiev on a missionary trip. We took the train from Moscow to Kiev and passed within a few miles from Chernobyl.

I got a little story, my uncle and his team did a design for a Chernobyl plant. So right after the accident they got sent to figure out everything. Now he got Parkinsonís and barely has balance. We are from Kharkov, Ukraine.

That total blatant failure of 1960s Russian technology and politics shouldn't dissuade the world that western world built nuke plants are safe and the best way to produce electricity.
And it saves fossil fuel for our V8s and our skis.
But those pictures are very sad, the remains of a fallen empire and a dead idealogy.
And Russian engineers don't suck, they just were never given the means to build it the way they wanted because of budget restrictions.
