Here are some pics of the kids i've been working with on some 1996 slx 780.
We work Sundays 10 to 2:00 and then go jetskiing. We are currently running two yamahas ;a waverunner and a raider. Both a little ratty but are currently dependable.
So far we've covered 2 stroke vs 4. How to rebuild a carb. how to use a torque wrench. and have replumbed the fuel lines on the waverunner. Taken lots of stuff apart and now are trying to put it back together. What fun.
These kids are connected to the venturing group i work with. Also Seascouts.
A funny kaviat is that the Boy Scouts doesn't allow Jet skis. Their insurance won't cover it and it's considered too dangerous. I like to use as an inticement to get them off the xbox's and wees and get their hands greasy and get outdoors. Also use it as bait to get them into Seascouts....which is a truly great organization which happens to own lots of boats.
So the future will be richer with two running slx's and we have a 2 sltx's in the que. As they learn so do I. Especially with everyones help here on the forum.
    Thanks
    Rich

Cool!!! Future Polaris techs in the midst.

These are really easy engines to work on, great choice in my opinion to not overwhelm new learners.

Hopefully some these kids will work on Polaris for years to come. That way they will still be around after everyone else decides to not wrench on them any more. Polaris techs are already hard to come by from what I hear.

It's a nice thing that you're doing, keep it up and good luck.

That's really nice of you Desertmariner; taking the time to teach those boys. It's sad that so many kids today have no mechanical abilities whatesover.

I just recently learned about Seascouts and look forward to getting my two boys involved in them in the future.

    Keep up the good work!

I'm a Blow boater......Sailing is really fun. Kinda slow but i have jet ski's for the Mr Hyde in me.
Picked up a Highlander sailboat. When that gets up and sailing i can take the kids out and show em some excitement.
Too cold today to go ride....and Superbowl Sunday ......Some heck of a game.
