my mate wrecked his ski on Sunday

My mate wrote his ski off on Sunday he crashed into some rocks. it would not start when he got on it. he said it stopped when it hit the rocks and he went over the handle bars.it got towed to the ramp and when it was on the trailer there was water coming out of 2 holes. The reason it would not start was a mystery , until we took the seat of , the engine had slid forward 6 inches.here are some photos

No it was at high tide and there was about 6 foot of surf he was heading towards the beach when a wave dumped him on the rocks.

how big are the swings from low to high tide there???!!!!
us norhtern states like NJ or NY know tides can run 4-6 ft daily.
but in southern USA like florida, tides are less strong.
    only 2-3 ft...
i think the farther north you go the bigger the tides???
