I'd follow the factory pipe instructions. You want no more than 40psi of water pressure at the head gasket. Rig up a cheapo oil pressure gauge and take a measurement. Reduce your backpressure till under 40psi.

I bet a bunch of folks run with too high of water pressure.

Take notes on what was just said - that is valuable information that people have tried to figure out on their own in the past. Great info to have.

How would you reduce the pressure? Would you just allow more water off the heads? Thanks

Yes, you are increasing volume of flow, decreasing pressure.

However, the head and exhaust gasket are limiting factors and can't be overcome without some hole drilling.
