    09 FX HO vs SHO

Can't seem to find any specific info on the 09 FX HO, besides the Yamaha site. Is it even out yet? How does it compare to the SHO in regards to top speed, HP and fuel millage?

Looks like the report gives the FX 63mph with a range over 100 miles. Hard to trust those reports without any real world results from actual owners though. If its true, its not so bad, a little quicker than the 07's with a little less range...

The top speed is only about 4mph slower than the SHO, and their report shows 13.8 GPH whereas my SHO uses about 21-22 GPH @ WOT. Cruising speed range is fairly similar...they show 7.4 GPH @ 45mph(6000rpm) & my SHO uses 8.5 GPH @40mph(~5500rpm). The HO engine must be unlocked a little because the SHO doesn't make any boost until >6000rpm and will only rev to 6000 without boost. I found this out when testing my BOV and blew the SC hose off because I didn't have it clamped tight enough. I am guessing that the HO will feel like a much heavier ski than the SHO without the extra power. IMO the best thing about the SHO is a couple cheap bolt on mods give it a much more nimble feel while this might not be as easily achieved on the naturally aspirated motor. I'm just guessing, so like Jpack said we'll have to wait for some rider reports before we know for sure.

Thanks, just the info I had hoped for. I am looking more for range, not so much speed. Hope we get some rider reports soon. Went to Riva South today and they don't have any HO's yet. Do any dealers give deals? Riva South doesn't give a cent off MSRP.

This could be an interesting ski to mod if someone takes an interest in it. Air intake, free flow, more timing

The reports I've heard from people who have ridden the 09 HO say that although acceleration is not as good as the SHO, it really doesn't feel that much different! Should be a great ski for those of us that want a good compromise between range & performance!

I don't know how different an 09 FX HO is from a 2005 FX HO, but I had a 2005 and it's top speed was 57-58, and didn't accelerate anywhere near my 2009 FX SHO!

It's way different, they dropped in the 1.8L engine, normally aspirated.
