Break In Period Tips?
Well, gave the dealership my check today for the 06 FX HO (Gold and Black). Will suprise the wife tomorrow at her birthday party, and then will "volunteer" to break in "her" new waverunner on Sunday. The salesperson said the break in period is ony 1 hour 35 minutes (much less time than Sea Doo's I was looking at!) as follows:
5 minutes - run at trolling speed only
30 minutes - stay under 5000 rmp's
60 minutes - stay under 8000 rpm's
Any tips or advice on break in period other than the above guidelines?

sounds good. just be easy on it the first tank - then ride it like you stole it.

Leave the boat on the trailer,in the water, and let it run for 3-5 minutes, checking for leaks.Take the boat out for 15-20 minutes and do idle-1/4 throttle bursts.NEVER LEAVE THE THROTTLE AT ONE POSITION.Always fluxuate it.Bring the boat in for a 10-15 minute cool down.Go back out and do idle to 1/4 and 1/2 throttle bursts.Always be moving the throttle to change rpm.Come back in for another 10-15 minute cool down. Now you can go from idle to 3/4 throttle bursts.Never hold it at 3/4 throttle for more than a few seconds.Come back in for a cool down.Inbetween cool downs, check for leaks in the hull.Ok,now you can go back out and do a few full throttle runs.Only holding it there for a few seconds.Another 10-15 minute cool down.Make sure the dealer has added extra oil in the tank for the breakin.Run a full tank through it before you really hammer it.Remember to keep the throttle(rpm's)moving all the time, never hold it at one rpm during breakin. After all this headache stuff is done,go out and ride it like you stole it.
