Take It to the Limit...Wait, which one???

Take Itttt to the Limittttt...one more timmmmme....

I think I've hit the limit of mods with the current ECU........not only have SHO owners been wrestling with the bullsh-t 7750 rpm factory rev limit...now I just hit what i think is the boost limiter running my ski today. It seems that my ski runs slower and hits the limiter more when it's cooler out....which is completely opposite of what the laws of physics/internal combustion engines dictates.
And now instead of hitting the limiter at just high speed WOT...it's hitting the limiter during WOT, acceleration runs in cool air (50 degree, Monster wheel)

I run faster in warm weather...and as Pipidulce stated......cool weather makes the ski run so well that now it's hitting multiple limiters.......

So unless I can save up $$ for a Motec...or someone figures out a way to reflash the stock ECU to 8300 rpm and raise it's boost limit....it doesn't make sense for me to do any more mods to my SHO........

Good, now you can start doing them on mine ... Actually cool air is more dense you, are processing even more @ cooler temps, thus the issues start sooner in the compression process. Cooler air generaly has less humidity.....

If it is cooler outside you will make more power. If your hitting the limiter before you get to your top speed that is why it is running slower. You should try tweeking your prop a little.

ECU limits boost in colder/drier temps.

If you hitting limiter in warmer, more humid weather, then it's revs. Obviously to compensate for revs, you need to re-pitch prop. Not sure what do to get off boost limiter. Any ideas?

That's what Mike Hodges at Riva told me the other day, and when Rip was running this morning, he was losing mid range power. Too bad he doesn't have a boost guage to confirm.

Rip, I havent been following your mods much, but every so often I see you bitching about cavatation, or hitting your limiter.

Have you ever looked at your impeller liner?

One of the tuners/racers on here said the stock ECU would only allow fueling for 7 pounds of boost. So if you want to run more than 7 pounds of boost on the 1.8 motor you will need an aftermarket ECU. I think the R&D monster wheel is as far as you can go on stock ECU.
