What to clean carbs with?
I am about to bust my cherry on rebuilding 3 sbn 44 carbs. My question is what should I clean them with or have them soaking in?

Post up some pics when you break them open. Most of the time they are pretty easy to clean. If you have corrosion it is a different story. I clean the outsides with Mineral spirits. I use carb cleaner to blow through orfices and clean the inside, pretty simple really. If you have corrosion it does require some mechanical cleaning.

After a complete disassemble I like to use carb chem dip made buy gunk.. It is a 1 gallon tub with a basket most old skool auto parts places have it.

The only corrosion is on the outside of the carbs. The insides are pretty clean. Another question what internal parts do I need to keep...i.e. needle and seat, jets.......etc.

I'm careful not to get the outsides because it will eat the paint....but I often will use Brake Parts cleaner on the insides if I'm going a complete rebuild with all new gaskets, o-rings etc. I then will clean them out with compressed air.

I use this product from Yamaha in a ultasonic bath and it looks like new after about 5 min in the bath. With a 1 liter you make your self 2 liters mixed.
Brush on or use as a dip to remove dirt, grease and varnish from carburetor.

Going to clean my carbs, but wanted to know the following.
will the gunk chem dip eat or damage the plastic sleeves that are around the shaft?
how do you remove the sleeves?
are the sleeves included in the mikuni complete rebuild kit?
