hi all i went premix last week and all went well... i made a mistake today though..... i poured the oil into the tank and then filled at the filling station and i didnt mix the oil properly..... the first hour went well as the oil was at the bottom off the tank but as the ski was drinking the fuel it started getting leaner to the point that the engine started making a different noise.......i stopped straight away and got towwed back to shore.. upon inspection the plugs were burning next to no oil.....
to remidy the problem i put 60mls oil down each pot and fired up on the hose..
luckily ive saved the engine and it sounds normal again but to be on the safe side i did a comp test the results are as follows...
pot furthest away from fuel tank was 120psi
pot in middle was 122psi
pot closest to fuel tank was 119psi.
so my question is what do people make of the results? is the engine still ok?
i tested when the engine was still warm and 1 plug out at a time
we also tested my pals comp and his was 118psi/121psi/121psi

If you were riding that ski the oil got mixed. Your problem is something different.

i was riding it yes,,, when i removed the plugs there was no oil residue on the plugs.... ive added more oil and put oil down the pots now its fine....
what do you think of the comp readings?

Comp is good 120psi is stock reading.
Sounds like an air leak first thing I would check is the pulse lines and oil lines.
Look in the botom of the hull for clues like oil or metal shavings as well.

im premix so there is no oil lines,,, i will replace the pulse lines tomorrow. there is no debris in the hull..

Next I would go through the carbs and fuel system
What were the symtoms you say leaner sounding.

If it was runing on 2 cyl it would run 40-45 mph.
Would have a bit of a drone and quieter than usual.

difficult to explain kinda like a grrrr noise if i backed off the throttle it was ok... when i gave f/t it went like stink for a few secs then started the grrrr muffled noise so i backed off to tickover shut it down then fired it up... it started fine but was sounding noisy when trying to accelerate and was lacking power
plugs looked like new in the centre with next to no oil burn on them..... far different from the set i had in the tank before (same make model)
