    turbo coolant question

    On the gt28r does it matter which is the feed port and which is the return on the coolant side of the setup?

    My oil return line was slighty "browned" due to heat by the turbo housing, so i replaced with some high temp (600F hose), what would be the appropriate hose to use for the coolant lines?


    If i were to keep the coolant lines part of the closed loop system, where are the ideal spots to tie in?


    (I plan to have the housing thermal coated, not sure if this will make enough of difference when choosing hosing?)

    it does'nt matter which is in or out as it goes straight through.
    I havnt run with closed loop and turbo but just use standard hose (automotive heater hose) on the open loop setup. You would have to hook in to the hose coming from the oil cooler outlet but not sure if the system can cope with the extra heat im sure someone will know

    There's some good info on this very subject in the garrett catalog. From what I understand, the water cooling is mainly just there for shutdown cooling of the oil. They act like little flow, perhaps even thermosiphon, is ok. You could maybe just tie into the hose going to the reservoir.

    I think I will look into the garrett catalog..

    I had read in one of the Turbo threads that some don't even hook up the coolant part of the hub and they didnt have any problems.... not that i would do that but it seems that this really doesnt play that much of a role in the housing.
