    155 to 215

hi guys, dont think ive ever posted here yet, but heres the low down

    i own an 02 GTX LTD 4TEC (155hp)

my buddy mike runs a ski repair shop, and a customer of his just had him take out a bad 215hp 4tec motor (dropped valve), and put in a 255hp motor

the head and a piston are the only bad things on the 215 motor

i know they share a case...so all the goodies and internals should swap over to my 155 case right?

what other things might i need (note we have a COMPLETE parts motor, with wiring and ECU)

If the blocks good then rebuild that 215. You can get a head here in the classifieds or rebuild that one. Why swap anything unless the cylinder is toast? Sell the 155 to finance it.

I know I've seen some ad's for the head and pistons. 1ad was used 215 pistons with new rings so it can be done easily and there are alot of 4tec expert engine builders willing to help on this site. The thread on JPE's 185 build documents a similar build up using 215 parts. The pistons are critical to running the supercharger so your 155's wont cut it. Spend an hour in the classifieds and you'll find more than you could imagine (or afford).

u have agood start ur 155 head will work, the valves r the same, if the block is bad all the parts will fit in ur block just get a new pistion and ring set (the crank rods counter balance ru the same-cam will b differentand s/c ring grear) use the 215 rear houseing for the s/c and intake for the TB if the wireing is the same as a 03 all u need to do is put the 215 ecu on if the motor is a 04-05, if its newer the u'll haft to change the wireing i would get a rxt drive shaft and pump u should b set

The head and valves were the most expensive part of my rebuild with the same damage. You already have those, I would say go for it. With new piston and rings, bolts and gaskets you will probably still be approaching $1000 in parts.
