With the mods in my sig in cold water I can hit 54 mph with 2 adults, 2 kids, and a golden retriever. When the water gets warm I loose 2 - 3 mph.

Although rated at 8 people don't ever expect to take that many and exceed more than idle speed. I have had 8 in my C180 on plane, and even with full throttle I could barely get it to turn. The boat just kept falling off plane if I turned too sharply. If I kept a straight line I could still hit about 45 mph.

Reduce the # to 6 people and you are good to go. I regularly have 6 in my boat and it can still easily pull my 205 lbs butt out of the water on skis quickly enough. Turning ability is also 100% better with 6 or less.

I was thinking it would be a great boat for me and the kids. I sold my LS 2000 Jet boat last year as it was to loud. I could hardly talk when driveing it. Is the 180 Loud? Can I have a conversation when it is running?

I would have me, my wife, oldest son 18 the 3 and 4 year olds and my parents on the fullest trip. Most of the time it would be me the wife and 3 and 4 year olds.

    Thanks

Yes it is loud. We were supposed to buy this boat last year until we tried one. We found it not enought powerfull and to noisy. Also the water can enter easily in front of the boat (same with the Sportster 4-tec we owned). But the boat is sporty and I liked that. But we finally bought a Rinker Captiva 192 with a the V6 MPI 220hp. The boat is more eavy, can talk all the time really sheaper on gaz and use regular one and really really more powerfull (transports easely 8 adults).

But if you are all the time just 2 adults and 2 kids, the performance of the C180 will be perfect. But still really noisy. I do not really understand why the BRP motors are so noisy in their jet boat... it is not the case in their pwc. Probably because the Rotax gives more effort in the boats and becomes noisy.

Thanks for the input. I can add some power via my STG III Supercharger and XS IC I build, but if it is as loud as you say I will not like it.

I have never heard someone doing 54 mph with a C180 modified or not. The speed when stock is 46 mph using a GPS to get the real speed. Once modified it steel under 50 mph.
