    250 to 260, observations

I have noticed that in addition to the new cams, prop, pistons, and 09 ecu there are some other diffs like:
    the valves (sizes) are
    Valves:
    27.6mm exhaust valve-07 vs. 28.3mm exhaust valve-09
    32.6mm intake valve -07 33.4mm intake valve-09

7.8 change to 8.4 comp ratio, what are new psi #'s?
the waterbox is said to be different aswell, but not confirmed.
the crank case breather is gone and now just a hose going from crank case to valve cover, why? not needed? does this mean it is ok to remove the box from previous models?
rev limiter said to increase, anyone know by how much?
    strengthend hull
    stronger lower 1/2 of crankcase
    4 deg adv timing
is check valve in cyl wall new? 2000 rpm release

and what about all the new superceeded parts, there are tons like gaskets, are there any that need to be replaced let say if we decided to upgrade or do mods? thanks

Upgrade 250 to 260 (Stock Class)

Guys, does someone have the knowledge to let me know if i can upgrade my 08 250X with some of the new parts the 260x offers and still classify as a stock class runabout, eg upgrade 08 pistons to 09 pistons.

i think if you update EVERYTHING you should be ok. you can update and backdate but i think it has to be complete. isn't that right?

    2008 Official Competition Rulebook
The International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA)

6.1.2 Original equipment parts may be updated to newer original equipment parts of the same model. The part must be a bolton
requiring no modifications to that part or any other parts except where rules allow substitutions or modifications.

250x and 260x are different models!!

    I'm curious about the valves.

I have my new 260 just sitting in the garage; haven't ridden it yet. That will change soon. There seems to be some nice cosmetic feature changes right off the bat:
    - hood latch is auto spring loaded (you don't have to remember to push the tab closed shut anymore)
    - the steering seems tighter . . . less "back and forth" play at the steering stem
    - The SC Belt appears to be thicker; a little beefier.
    - The seat seams firmer (for me that is better)
    - The Silicone slathered onto the pump area was put on with more care (as compared to my 2007)
    - The rubber air boot at the mouth of the air box seems to be "beefier". The one on my 2007 got "sucked in" and ultimately I just kept it off.

I have heard that this boat will be quicker than my 2007. Also have heard it could be a little faster too. Hope to get out there this weekend. Will let you know what I think. jb

I don't have a digital camera at my disposal; but my girlfriend does so maybe I can Post some things. It is the Black/Blue/Gray model (so I can match to my riding gear at this point). A friend of mine has an 09 too. He weighs about 160 and tells me he is GPSing 68 mph w/ half tank of gas on smooth salt water in about 55 degree air . . . . not bad for a stock boat IMO!
