    Fercho/Kerry 800 intake grate

Before I call to bug Fernando tomorrow, does anyone know if I can get the 800 grate modded for minimal cavitation without buying the package? Or is it a secret he tells you about IN the package?

    Stalker,
check out the 800 grate and the 1200 grate pictures.

What would YOU do to make the 800 grate work more like the 1200 grate???

take a good look at those pictures. You may have an idea pop into your head about the two design difference between the plates.

Just a word of caution to anyone thinking about modifying intake grates.

If you dont know what you are doing, or are unsure about cutting or grinding intake grates...then DONT DO IT. You can get seriously hurt if it fails and can cause serious damage to your Jet unit.

Stalker, unless you get the grate for free I would not mess with it.

    No hole shot.

    Sucks in rough water.

    Hurts acceleration badly.

I never got the mile per hour as claimed.

I did get beat out of the hole and got my ass kicked by every one the day I had it on.

It is faster on the top in flat water but it takes longer to get there.

If I still had mine you could use it.

ya, I've been seeing that for the extra 1mph the cavitation makes it not worth it. The mod I'm talking about is the one Fernando said they do to the 800 grate to stop that cavitation but keep the top end. I'm just going to stick to the 1200 one I think, I need all the rough water hook up I can get.

Thats right on the money. I modded an 800 grate for less cavatation and the ski tried to ramp up on me at wot, then tried to buck me off. Really scary at 73+ mph. I just threw it in the trash and bolted on a new 800 grate, no more handeling problems. I ride smooth water 90% of the time, and back to back testing within 20 minutes showed nearly 2 mph gain with 800 grate, but looser feel on the water. I run the 800 all the time now.
