I had anouther 04 that thru p1544 dealer replaced the sensor and it quit showing up but cost me 250$
how hard is it and is this something I could do. I have done some wrenching before such as s/c removal and pump and wearing removal and replacment any help would be great!!!!

The 0544 code points to a faulty exhaust gas temp sensor. Check to make sure that you are getting cooling water to the J-pipe and exhaust system and make sure that the nothing is blocked. The service manual has the resistance values so you can check it with a VOM... Ron

Just pulled the waterbox and found sensor was bad . New find i have found puddles of some anti-freeze at both hoses that go to ride plate right were the clamp are what could that be and what should i do ????
all pisser hoses where clear and didnt see any thing else that would cause the sensor failure though it was jet black and corrided.

Replace the hose clamps with good stainless worm gear clamps.
