Routine check up and find pitting on Pistons!
Guys I pulled my RXP motor to upgrade my flywheel bolts and I went ahead and did a routine inspection.
Well I found with the 2 Rude I melted my exhaust manifold
and my GH box exspanded on the front and bottom front.
and all of the tops of my pistons have little pit marks on them.
I assume all this is for running a bit lean. I have the Riva ECU and 50lbs injecters with 55lbs base pressure on the RRFPR..
My question is can I just keep on running the ski with the same pistons?
Pit marks are not big they are all small, but all over the top of every piston.
Is there a chance this is normal? 117 housr on ski. I did not pull head I used a bore scoop!

The pitting is from detonation. You can still run it without issue as is but it will not run as well. Dont you have an AFR gauge? Maybe you need to adjust your RRFPR?

Monitor your RRFPR gauge at WOT... make sure its working properly.
Mine was running 3 psi. lower than my base at WOT

NO A?F gauge yet. It gets here this week. I had already plained for one. I went from my B-kit to the ET to 2Rude also and this happened in only 3 hours. 114 hours with no issue with STG III Plus B-kit then the big SCers and this.
SO what am I gonna loss? Is it a small amount? Does this need to be fixed? No big deal, just adjust A/F?

Austin, get your a/f dialed in and you should be fine. I dont think you will loose any noticable performance.

If your compression is still ok I would just run it.

Well 2 rides ago I was all over 83+ and then Ray (Sundance) and I went ridding about 3 weeks ago and I heard what was a marbles knocking sound around in my motor and all I could pull was about 80.
I now know it was detanation, but thought it was my Flywheel bolts.
I ordered them from Jerry and installed and inspected this week.
My comp is about 138 each hole, but I will do it again when motor is back in ski.
I am looking for 85, so damit I can't loss performance from this crap.

wonder why the ecu didnt pull timing when the knock sensors felt the marbles?
