Permatex right stuff for things that want be removed much or any at all like ride plate.
Permatex ultra black for things like intake grates, RE,s or anything that you may have to remove sometime.
For the ride plate holes you need something harder then then silicone. Any of the 2 part sticks like water weld will work the best.

Can someone explain why it is necessary to use sealant on these grates? I never did it on the GPR and don't use it on the X ski and have never had any problems.

I dont use any silicone on my intake grates as of late, I have been changing grates like under wear so no silicone here.
