    Delamination Sea Doo says Tough

3 weeks ago I was happy as a clam. Got my X charger, intercooler, Riva valve train upgrade, Kanaflex, new sponsons & OPAS block offs installed on my 2004 RXP. Went to the lake for some testing and 10 minutes later look what happened. Called the dealer, he contacted Sea Doo they said yeah they've seen this. It happens "when the hull is damaged and water gets under the gel coat and peels it off". This hull had never been damaged below the bond line. It was a race boat and has a couple battle scars but the bottom was perfect. The only work ever done below the bond line was to put the new sponsons on. Just a heads up if your looking to buy an RXP. I saw an RXP-X @ the Nationals in Nasville last year that had delaminated a MUCH smaller portion but I figured the thing had previous damage. Now I feel sorry for the guy.

    You replace it!

That sucks. This being said. I dont know of any company that would warranty a 5yr old ski that was used for racing.
Although, On the other hand, they did stand by the rxx hulls still after 5 yrs.

Don't feel bad - BRP said "Tough" the same year that the ski was out. Apparently, the company that BRP had manufacture the hulls skimped on resin and many delaminated due to inadequate wetting of the glass fibers. Too bad BRP didn't have a better contract with them... Ron

Thanks for posting, this is why I will never buy an RXP.
    BRP are you listening?
