    Hydrodrags New Safty Rule

Just wanted to update a new rule for drag racing that not many people might have known about.....

    Chapter 17
    http://www.apbaracing.com/rulebook.html

17.2.7 Neck Brace - It is mandatory that every rider wear a "Leatt" style neck brace while tuning, practicing or racing.

There are really only three manufactures of these style braces.

    Leatt: http://www.leatt-brace.com/ Price range $400.00 - $1000.00

    EVS Sports: http://www.evs-sports.com/ Price Range $169.00 - ??????

    AlpineStars: http://www.alpinestars.com Price range $680.00 - ??????

Have not had a confirmation back from TIM on this as I have emailed him. However I would suggest that everyone save there pennies to buy a neck brace so that you can race.

    Thanks.

Well yes and no cause HANS doesnt make a powersports brace only a fixed seated brace. For race cars....

Well I guess I'm not racing then.

What sucks is they won't let us drill holes for overstuffing but we have to pay $500 for a neck brace.I guess they don't want us to break our neck when it pitchs us.

The LEATT brace can be had for ~200 bucks! Itís the LEATT Adventure. I think itís a good idea, but should not be limited to that type of brace. A foam type brace should be allowed, not just the harder composite materal like Leatt. I plan on racing this year with a neck brace, I'm not sure which one though. I tried a trial run with LEATT, but didnít care for it, it was too big I guess. EVS has a nice one as well, for like 150 bucks.

I think the APBA REALLY needs to do additional homework on this though. Has any of the people that made the rule, even tried what its like to swim to the ski with a LEATT brace on? Keep in mind, you cannot lift your head up much. With that in mind, many of the racers use some pretty thin life vests. This poses a safety issue IMO, with a thin life vest, and a LEATT brace, and your helmet, you'll be luck to have your head above the water. I guess if you get tossed, You'll have to backstroke to your ski, instead of freestyle to it. Just my .02ÖWith that said, I'm gonna get one still, but maybe the foam type for now.

Its hard enough to swim with your helmet, let alone a brace........I think I will be sitting on the sidelines for the next race.

this has to be a misprint
CC racing side by side is more dangerous and they dont have wear a brace?

this is a perfect way to ruin a good thing we will be staying home like everyone else........................
