Hauling stand ups in truck bed
Hey all, anyone out there have a good system for hauling a stand up ski in the bed of a truck? I'm thinking of buying one & would probably be loading & unloading it by myself. I thought about putting come bunks crossways on the front of my double trailer, but I just don't want to pull the whole set up to the lake to just ride one ski. Most of the systems I've found online are way too expensive, they cost more than I want to spend on the ski itself (looking for an older used one to start with) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

get a hitch rack, make sure your hitch has a weight cap. of 500lbs, or beef it up so it does.
then modify the rack to hold a ski, a few simple welds and a pin lock for the nos eof the ski and you are set.
only problem is loading and unloading the ski. you will need 3 people to puick it up to move it. at the beach i go to theres always other skiers around willing to help.

or get a second small trailer just for the standup, you will need to carry gas cans and other equip. so setup the standup trailer to carry all your gear.

Be careful if you are using a late model GMC pickup. They replaced the heavy metal support bars with cheap plastic-coated cables. GM doesn't even list the capacity of cables and the tailgate. There's a recall out, but many people have been hurt when those cables break and the tailgate slams down onto the bumper... Ron
