How to lighten OEM pistons, where to remove material?

I noticed a few weeks/months ago when someone posted a set of the Rotax Racing 2 ring lightened pistons up for sale. You could see where they removed some of the weight from the factory piston casting. Could you lighten the OEM pistons by removing material in this same spot? Since that's where Rotax chose to remove the weight, that must be the ideal spot to remove weight without loosing structural strength, right?

    Check out the pics.

I don't think it would be worth it.The wrist pin is shorter (1/4in.)too which would be alot more weight.
