Congratulations!! You've got a great ski there! I think the HP numbers are around 215-220?? Same as the SHO, great engine though. You're gonna enjoy the summer.

When you get it take the engine cover off and there should be a label on the valve cover with the engine (advertised) rating in metric.

    I'm guessing 154.5 kw

    I do have to agree.

In the PWC market. Horsepower is how they are marketed, But since the average consumer doesn't know that they are not allowed to sell a production ski that does over 70mph. They assume more Hp = faster.
Which isn't the case since they must now slow the ski down with hull changes or limiters(or even gps governors)

Yamaha just has a better philosophy than the competition. Put out a less Hp motor in a better hull and go the same speed. Where the competition maxes out the motor and shoves it into a barge to slow it down.

If a stock FZR with 210 [email protected] 6.5 psi is doing high 69's, Anyone care to take a guess what a lightly modified 250 Hp motor @ 10 psi will be pushing?
    75+ and reliable.

I just traded in my 06 1300r with 130 hours of abuse. Dealer checked compression, 120psi across the board. Yamaha reliability

becuase not all horse power is equal. where the engine makes its peak horse power is just as important as how much hp it makes. also if you have 2 engine that make the same amount of hp lets say 215 and one make much more trq there going to have different attributes. the 215 with the higher trq will be able to swing a larger prop or might have more whole shot.

numbers can be very misleading to consumers. so im sure there trying to stay away from that game and market there luxury and better hull designs.
