    Difference in fuel consuption

    Hey y'all,

I have an 07 RXT and a 08 RXT-X. The RXT-X when running at the same speed and the same rpm as the RXT uses almost twice as much gas. The specs say they shouldn't use that much of a difference in gas but you can go 4 or 5 hours with the RXT before a fill up and maybe 3 or so if you are lucky on the RXT-X before you need to reload. The dealer says it shouldn't do this but it does. you guys have any ideas?

Are you running the stock intake grate on the x? If so, its costing more than just fuel, its also costing you some speed.

+1 ditch the stock grate on T-X, it is a gas and speed hog.

    Welcome to the forum.

I agree with the above posts. I have the same skis and yes, the grate will make a difference. The X will still use about 25% more gas than the RXT.

The Riva or the R&D are the 2 most popular grates with the Worx being next due to it's cost. The best depends on riding conditions although the Worx appears to be very good in chop and the R&D may be the best on gas while the Riva may be the fastest. Of course this may start another debate too. I have an R&D now but want a Worx. The R&D cavitates too much during the holeshot.

My RXP-X is a piglet for fuel compared to my former RXP by about 20%. Just got an R&D grate and hoping it will improve mileage. Looking for other mileage ideas too.

Yep. When I'm running it hard, My RXT-X will be on the fuel warning buzzer in 2 hours easy.

Yes I must agree on the MPG. Don't get me wrong, I run hard but that thing sucks gas. Makes me glad we're not paying $4.25 a gallon on the water this year!
