FZS exhaust and other easy mods for non-mechanic
Have a yamaha FZS. Interested to know what I could add to get a couple more MPH and a little perfromace. Was thinking an exhaust and other easy to do mods. I have no mechanical expertise nor watercraft knowledge.
Is an exhaust easy to add. Also, what difference does it make, not wanting something crazy loud to annoy neighbors just a bit extra perhaps. Any input would be awesome

BTW...does the FF exhaust use the oem pipe that attaches to the hull?

Sure does you have to cut the elbow and rotate it forward. You can always go to Riva's site and download the instructions for everything. Took me about 30 minutes with no experience what so ever with PWC maintenance. Might be the easiest mod to the watercraft
Your just lucky your ski already has the intake manifold already good to go. Thats no picnic.

free flow exaust
R rated performance has a free flow that you DON"T need to cut the part so if you wanted you could bring it back to stock....

Just want to confirm the outer diameter of the pipe coming out of the water box. My ski is 500 miles away right now so i cant measure. Someone told me before that it was 3 1/4 inches. Im hoping its more like 3" cause if HARD to find 3 1/4" tubing. Thanks!

It is 3 1/4" at the waterbox exit and 3 1/2" at the factory rubber pipe that exits the hull. You can use 3" pipe for this. I took a 3" 90deg aluminum elbow to a muffler shop and they flared the ends for me. It now is about 3 7/16" on one end and 3 1/4" on the other which works well, I am using a 3" silicone coupler and t bolt clamps to secure it in place at the waterbox and just slid the factory rubber pipe over the flared elbow and secured it with a t bolt clamp.
