He really means everything! He even puts it on his seat cowling bolts.

However, I have noticed the same thing and I dont think it has anything to do with the bolts backing off but rather the fact that the pump shoe is plastic.

    But the inserts are metal...

Anywho, 2 times last season my ski would all of a sudden start cavitating horribly, wouldn't go over 10 mph without damn near shaking apart. All components were clean and no damage. Went to remove the pump and the bottom 2 bolts I could almost remove by hand. Put it back together and it ran fine. Couple hours later it did it again, fixed it again. Since that time 10-15 hours I haven't had any problems.

Wondering if I need new bolts as the ones from the factory are just too stretched out and not holding torque?

That is strange. I have never had an issue that bad. I just notice when I take the pump off that the bolts dont seem to be as tight as I left them.

Possibly what could be happening is that when you first install it it is actualy pulling against the wear ring before it is actualy snug against the bosses and settles in after riding needing to be retorqued.

Lock washers may be a good idea to help keep the tension.
