    Trailer plug 5pins on it?

I have a 08 speedster 200 and the trailer has a plug with 5 pins on it ,I know that 1 is for ground and 3 others are for left ,right brake and parking lights. What is the other one for ,the trailer has a surge brake system ,but is that extra wire for a electric brake system? My truck only has a 4 pin on it so I have to get an adapter for it . If it has surge on it would it also have electic brakes on it ? The trailer came with the boat .

if the trailer has disc brakes the fifth pin is for the reverse lock out is wired to the tow vehicle back up lights and disengages the surge brakes whin in reverse.that way you do'nt have to manualy lock the surge coupler to reverse.

You can still tow it with the 4 pin but when you back up the trailer will but the brakes on. IMO it's a bad setup I'm not a fan of it on my trailer but what can you do. If you get put there is a pin to stop the hitch from putting on the brakes when you tow with the 4 pin. But that's alot of work so just wire up a 5
