    AIRFLOW Riva Waterbox

RIVA Pro Series Water Box for 07 and Older Models

    http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=987

The focus on this session is to obtain airflow numbers for the new RIVA Pro Series Water Box for 07’ and older models. This unit is a replacement for the original GreenHulk Waterbox, commonly known in the community as the GreenBox. The following data is strictly a comparison for AIRFLOW only…

For history on previous flow work, and reference as to the numbers, please click on this link…
    http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40111

*** The numbers below represent AIRFLOW ONLY...They DO NOT represent any numbers in regards to EXHAUST HEAT, WATER INJECTION, or BOTH.....ALSO, it represents ANY 4TEC motor (N/A, non-IC SC'd, SC'd) that is spinning at roughly 6000 RPM, and does not reflect any other modifications such as external IC, air intake, SC upgrades, etc....Nor does it reflect airflow behavior above 6000 RPM, such as modded motors that spin at 8100-8600 RPM...BUT these numbers can predict what effect some mods will do at those air rates...

    Results

The original numbers on the Greenbox were very impressive for a simple setup. The GreenBox was a simple aluminum unit, with 2.5” inlet/outlet tube, flush fit internally, with simple angle cut outlet tube.

The new box by Riva is an improvement over the original box. Upgraded items include rounded endcaps and a mandrel bent outlet tube. These 2 items improve airflow, while maintaining proper wateflow for cooling.

The original Greenbox flowed 8.5” in/water of backpressure @ 26.2Hz, while the new Riva box flows 7.5” in/water of backpressure @ 25.5 Hz.

    That’s a 11.8 % flow advantage over the GreenBox.

The sound of the box on the bench was VERY SMOOTH compared to the sound of the Greenbox, which will yield a smoother overall sound in comparison.

    Danny,

Do you have a graph of all the exhaust tests like you do on air.

All we need now is to flow the 08 riva box.
We know the 08 mid pipe flows better.
Would be good to compare both riva setups with j - pipe and mid pipe. I think your test showed -.3 difference in mid pipes.
If the 08 riva box flows as good or better then the 07 riva setup, then the riva box is the way to go on my T-X .

Thanks for all your time testing.

+1 Thank you for the time you have taken. The significance of your contribution cannot be understated!

I have the Riva box on my P-X and I'm quite interested in the flow of the box. I will say the box with the Riva Pro X supercharger upgrade and rear intake together sound bad-ass -- I mean really BAD-ASS!!!

Thanks again for the flow testing on the intake, I know now to replace the Riva pre-filter screen with less restrictive screen. I had no idea the air flow was so restricted -- to the point of completely undermining the effectiveness of the rear intake. Thanks again!

This 11.8% flow advantage will equate out to a 1.08746392mph speed increase

So now I need to get the Riva box to get that extra edge? I still like the way the GH box sounds over the Riva.
