The question of the year. I don't worry about yamaha's, I worry about other SeaDoo's.

I know which ski youll have to spend an assload on plus 1000 to make faster........... Its not the X. For the little money it takes to make an X or a plain 215 fast.... The FZ/FX cant hold a candle to that.

Stock vs stock is going to be interesting.

I seem to remember the 4-tec stuff was really expensive when it first came out.

True. But your also talking about an ECU that has been out already for YEARS! That Vipec, Autronic, Motec aint getting any cheaper!! Prices for all the other parts are on par with stuff for the Doo's. Soo............ Playing field is pretty level at the present. Till that ECU comes into the picture.

I think the RXP-X may be a tad faster. In those videos when both got a decent start the T-X wasn't far behind at all.

The thing is, on the X models you just change the grate and you have picked up almost 3 mph. You can't do the same with the FZR.

Prop, nozzle, air intake and you have another 2-3 mph.

Without touching anything on the motor the X skis have more potential and gain massive speed for pennies. If you have a big budget for mods then the 1.8 motor has far more potential than the 4-tec it seems and in that case may be a better option for you.

I'm a Yamaha guy and would dump my X for an FZR in an instant if it wasn't so big and had more power from the factory.

I will have to give the yamaha's a nod for fit and finish. And that 1.8 speaks for itself. I ended up with the RXT-X cause the dealer was fresh out of SHO's. But don't think for a minute that I'm disappointed. This thing rocks!

Dealers go head-to-head drag racing Yamaha FZR and Sea-Doo RXT-X at recent dealer demo. On average the FZR posted top speeds better than 68 mph vs the RXT-X at 66 mph. The dealers also did shorter runs testing acceleration and the FZR won those races too. These speeds are consistent with tests performed by Watercraft World magazine and Boattest.com.

Now change the intake grate on the x and see what happens.
