Help With Info Meter Not Shutting Down
Dealing with a 99 GSX-L that will not "power down" with the lanyard off. The info meter stays on, and the trim will always work. Would this be a module problem or the meter itself?

It could be the lanyard post. Unplug it and see if the gauge goes off. Otherwise, it is probably the MPEM.

Pulling the lanyard will kill the engine, but not the gauge/trim.

just had this problem on a 2000 LRV check the red start button it was crushed in and made contact with the white switch and kept it powered up. The old red cover was hard as a rock .

i think 96xpss means disconnect the wires to the lanyard post to see if the power goes off.
