looking for a ski in miami

I've been keeping my eyes open for a few weeks now looking for a decent ski. I've found a 1998 Yamaha GP800 for $1800 and a 1999 GP760 for $1900. Whats the difference between these other than year. Would this be a good easy to work on PWC? I'mm kind of new to this but want to get a reliable ski. I also found a 2000 yamaha xl 700 for $2500. If you guys were to get one, which would be better (not going to race it, just something for the weekends and to maybe fish off of a few miles out).
    Thanks for the advice.

Both are good i would take the 800 out of those 2 but I would rather have a 97-99 GP1200 all 3 skis have the same hull and body the 760 is a 2 cylinder the 800 is a 2 cylinder with power valves and the 1200 is a 3 cylinder

if you wanna go fishing I suggest you roll with a 3 seater. they are much more stable than 2 seaters, and you need all the space you can get while fishing.

Yep, for what you want to do you will need a 3 seater. My 2 seat GP800 was not stable at all. Look for something bigger!

    Go buy this right now

Thanks everyone for the advice. Please keep it coming.
For a little clarification, the fishing I do is spearfishing, so stability while fishing is not that big of a deal because when fighting fish i will be in the water, but it is definitly something I will need to consider now that you all mention it. I am looking for something around the $2k mark and 2k year. Yamaha is prefered bc of family ties to the company, though they cannot help me out for used waverunners so brand loyalty is not that big of an issue.

Flying scottsman - Thanks for clarifying the difference between the skis I listed. so you think a year older ski is worth it if it has powervalves (gp800) vs a year newer. How much difference will they make in practical terms?

Haze - i don't know if my budget will allow a 3 seater, but i'm looking into them now that everyone is mentioning the stability issue.

EJ8Vtec - I wouldn't want to insult you with an offer I can afford. Thanks for the offer though. I'll PM you if I get a better budget from the wife

FreakBoy35 - thanks for the heads up. I am heading out this weekend to testride and will keep an eye on the stability. Fortunately I spearfish so i plan on being in the water fighting fish, not on the ski, so hopefully stability will not be that big of an issue while fishing.

SlowStang305 - that looks like a nice ride, just a little out of my price range. I'll keep an eye out for the 3 seaters.

Not a problem I will keep an eye out for you. The reason I recommended that one is because it is a 4 stroke, uses WAY less gas then a 2 stroke. Also, no carbs.

GP800 was sold. I ended up making an offer on the GP760. I took it out on a nice day and was able to crawl up the side to get back on, so it was stable enough for me. We will see how much I agree with that statement when i'm actually fishing in rougher water. Anyway thanks for the help. I'm sure when I get more money I will be trading this in for a better setup like these...
