    CDI

Anyone on here know if the 62T and the 61X CDI's are interchangeable? I believe they are but wanted to find out for certain. I knoticed plug wise the only difference is a wire would need to have a gender changer to make them all connect. Part number wise they look the same other the the first part that states 61X and 62T. ON the CDI's themselves the numbers are like

    62T F8T13175
    61X F8T13174

Anyone know ...I didn't know if there is any difference that should sway me away from using the Pro-tec CDI swap when the one I bought says it's a 61X and I have a 62T

As it seems like you figured out they are interchangeable.
The 62T 61X and 6m6 CDI's will all interchange. There is one plug that has to either be swapped out or put a jumper on to change the "gender" in some instances and if I remember right some of the colors on the wires are a bit "different".
Other than that they will all work. The rev limiters are different and if remember right it's 7200 (62t) 6900 (61x) and 6500 (6m6) but I'm not 100% sure on those exact numbers but it's something like that..

    Whatcha workin' on? anything fun??

You already probably know it but there is a mod to remove the limter totally... We did it to an extra cdi that we had for my kids superjet..

Blasters kick ass! except trying to idle through the no wake zones...

Is the timing curve the same on all of those CDI's?

I have no idea. That would be a better question for some of the guys over on the X. I do know that I noticed no difference (other than the rev limiter) going from a 6m6 to a 62t and then back to the 6m6 with the limiter removed....
I gotta say that having the 6m6 in the SJ while my son was learning to ride was a pretty cool "learning key"... but it was only there for a month or 2...

Great thread. I have a B1 and w/62T and just got a 61X ProTec CDI on a parts swap.

What is the difference between the ProTec CDI and a stock one besides the adjustable rev limiter?
