open loop i think would run cooler,as long as you flush it PROPERLY,after every use you would be good to go.I have run a few older boats in the sea all open loop and never had a problem. The riva therm .....i recently fitted one and it was faulty,it would seem i was not the only guy to have had problems with these.
    Thats my experience.

thats probably true about more speed, because you would suffer less from heat fade,so open loop might be your best option, for cooler running along with more mph.there are a few products that remove more of the salt than just water flushing alone,i use SALTAWAY,and allways leave a small amount in the system after flushing,i think that this is good practice,as it works on any stubborn deposits that might be left behind after a normal flush, think riva recommend this allso.

I have to agree. The 4tec is just too damn expensive to risk corrosion in the engine for a little speed. All saltwater cooled engines will show signs of corrosion irregardless of how well they are flushed.
