    Buying a PWC in florida

What steps do I need to do when buying a PWC in florida?
Does florida require a boating license, insurance, etc?
When I go to pick it up from the guy, other than the title and bill of sale, is there anything else i need to get?

This is my first time buying a watercraft, so any help would be appreciated. I already made the offer and am picking it up early this week. Thanks

No license needed, ins is your choice- get everything you can from the guy; manuals, lifejackets, cover, etc.

$1800 for a 99 gp760 wit 160hrs and trailer. Took it out yesterday, ran good, >45mph on the gauge. Hull looks good inside, clean, no rust or other damage, impeller looks good, compression 155 & 160. The guy is a marine mechanic and looks like he takes care of his stuff. Comes with flush kit. Basically it is stock and thats fine by me because that means things were not screwed with too much. I don't expect it to be a fast ride, i just need it to be a reliable one.

So no boaters licence necessary, no insurance necessary,
Get a bill of sale and the title from him and whatever extras he has laying around. Any other paperwork I need before going to the tax collector's office to transfer it into my name?

Get the title from him and have him sign it. Get a bill of sale on it as well just in case and a bill of sale on the trailer. You will need to get a tag for the trailer so it will cost a bit. If anything, you can go ahead and title the trailer as a homemade and put that you bought it for $100. Put that you paid like $500 for the ski on the title so you dont have to pay tons of $ in taxes.

    Yes.

I will find out in a couple of weeks what kind of paperwork the state sends me for my "homemade" double trailer.

easy, when you get the bill of sale for the ski have them put in there that the trailer is included in the sale of the ski along with the Vin # and get the original or a copy of the trailers registration so you can get it transferred into your name with out the title.

that is how i have done it.

if you get it registered as home made you will have to go to a weigh station and get it weighed before you goto the court house.
