    My poor ski...

Well, after sitting on my ass for nearly two years I'm finally going to freshen up the old '02 GPR. I tore into it last night and found an astonishing amount of corrosion in all the water passages - to the point that most of the coolant passage holes in the gaskets were blocked. No wonder I had big problems with loss of rpm and mph when it warmed up. I have no idea how any water was circulating in that engine.

It also looked like there's a bunch of jizz inside the exhaust pipe. Kind of a snot-like, clear globs in certain places. Is this a sign of water intrusion? Haven't ever seen this before. I'm wondering if WFO has been spending some "quality time" with my ski when I was out of town.

Man does this ski need some work. Last major overhaul was in 2004 when I was Lowell's first guinea pig. Everything needs attention. All the water lines are crusty; bilge pump broke (again); dirt and grime everywhere; my R&D flame arrestor is ripped and looks like someone ran over it; stripped bolt holes in the ride plate mounting bar. This is going to take a while.

Get after it Peter Pan...start cleaning everything with anti-corrosive cleaners, toothbrushes and compressed air. Been there many times.

If you can get a cheap parts cleaner, you can soak the crusty parts for while, then re-install them. Replace the hoses that have gotten rigamortise, they eventually fail from cracks. Check those carbs...don't just spray cleaner into the throats, get them off and clean them. You got about 30 hours of work ahead of you with all the cleaning. Don't be tempted to take a break and pick up some homeless guy for a quickie.

Only you can do that job...then take a drive down the road to Rich's...

The goo in the exhaust could be from a number of things...whatever the root...there is oil. Something is mixing with the oil. Take some pics, maybe we can decipher it.

Mikey, glad to see you are still alive. I'd have thought one of the young girls or the homeless guys had done you in by now.

Brandon, what are you doing this weekend? Rich is going to try to come over so we can yank the engine. We could use a beer bitch.
