    Powdercoating Driveshaft

Anyone tried powdercoating or even painting the driveshaft to prevent corrosion? I usually keep my ski on a jet dock all summer and the driveshaft gets pretty corroded. I know seadoo is now coating their driveshafts starting in 2009. Are there any other options out there?
    Thanks

Dude!! Had this exact same thought last night. Or can you anodize stainless? (not sure, not much experience with anodizing) OR anything to prevent corrosion. Rhino Liner? lol. My only other concern when thinking about this, is how is Seadoo coating the shaft? with the rubberized coating really stay on? Time will tell, It all depends on how its applied to the shaft in my eyes.

any "mm" you increase the diameter of the driveshaft will increase the cavitation,

Very good point. How much worse would the cavitation be if the diameter was increased by 1mm?

Boost just so you know the stock driveshafts are not stainless. If your shaft is already rusting you won't be able to stop it, rust is like cancer the only way to stop it is to cut it out or basically get a new shaft

you wold need a whole lot of paint or powdercoat to increase the diameter by 1mm

I have had very good luck with mercury outboard primer and paint. Have your shaft sandblasted and paint it with 3 or 4 coats of that stuff. should last longer than the ski

You could have it nickel plated.. there is a place KPC platings in Pompano Beach Florida that has Nickel plated a lot of stuff for me.. Excellent corrossion protection.
