Thread: Pump/Prop Install??

I have an 02 gp. I bought the 05 pump conv. for it and I am having trouble with the prop removal. I got the pump out but am unable to figure out how to remove the old pump from the driveshaft. I got the bolt off the rear, but dont know where to go from here. Also my old impeller has the bolt pattern on the nose of the prop. My new one doesnt. How does this change my install?? I guess I dont understand it because I havent got it apart yet. Does the old pump just slide off the shaft then then old impeller screw off then??? How does the new one go together?? Any help will be really great. Thanks

You'll need to use a press to get the old shaft out. For the new pump press the front bearings on the driveshaft, press the bearing and driveshaft into the pump, press the spacer into the pump, then press the rear bearing onto the shaft and into the pump. It's important to have the correct size driver to press against the inside and outside races, and it may be worth it to take the old pump and new parts to a dealer and pay them an hour's labor to do it.
For the new prop you should have received a prop install tool that slides into the front of the prop to tighten or loosen it. The billet nose cone then slides into the same space.

Carl at IR had already pressed the bearings in for me when I bought the pump. So I have the new bearings in the new pump and I have greased them.

Impeller Installation Install
Here are some good links that Cajundude has on his website for the impeller installation.
Also, welcome to the Forum
