    What to buy?

Old foggies (60's)- new to the sport! Looking for (2) used waverunners
for small lake. Just want to have fun - nothing adventurous. Boat/motor
knowledge - but don't want to spend my whole summer taking care
of toys either. At least one needs to be able to pull grandkids on tubes
    / skis.
Anyone have any opinions on what a good beginning would be? We have
NO knowledge - and don't know what a good price would be either.
Hoping to get two for around $7000. Please advise!

I had an 01 951 gtx and it was a great ski. It's two stroke, 3 seater, that went around 55 MPH. You could probably pick one up with decent hours on it for $3500. Also, GTI's are durable skis.

I think you will be very happy with two GTI 4-tecs (2006+). If you look around, you might be able to swing two for $7000 as deals are everywhere now, but probably plan on spending a bit more. However it is well worth it.
The non super charged 4-tec has been know to last up to 1000hrs with basic maintainence. Great reliable ski for the cottage.

The GTI is a great ski for pulling riders. A fun amount of power and very reliable. I have the GTI SE which has a little more horsepower than the GTI.

are you plannig on letting the grandkids drive either ski???
if so you might want to get one larger ski, for yourselves, aka a gtx or gti, maybe even pickup a nice 2003 GTX SC, or similar.
and then get a smaller more nimble "fun" ski for the kids, like a spx or a gsx.
those can be had for around 2k.
best all around combo, for fun and usability.

Shoot for 99' GTi for the tubing and get a 99+ GSX for fun. If you shop smart.. you'll find both with a trailer can come as cheap as $5000.
