RXP Front Air Intake Duct Mods/Removal

I have tried searching a few times and can't find the information I am looking for. I have an '04 RXP with a forced air mod that I think originated from PPG. I want to convert to the Riva front air intake; however, I want to remove the stock front air intake with the fan in it.

What are you guys doing after you remove that intake ducting to waterproof the front air intake? Is there a holder for an outerwear fabric protector that can go over the opening in the hull?

The PPG air mod was a simple fan drilled into the front intake runner to force air into the system. But at high draw from the SC, it would be restrictive in a a way...

Simply remove everything that is attached to the SC FORWARD, nothing shall remain. You will have the front oil vent line that can be relocated with a simple CATCH CAN. Unless you ride in salt water, you do not want to reinject this into the inlet charge.

I also suggest going with a simple Kanaflex setup. These setups are easy to build, offer more air, and very cost effective. You can find all information here, including on the Riva Power Filter, on this thread...

    Danny,

I saw in a thread where you had placed outerwear material over the front seat air intake. That is where I was going with this thread. I don't want to rely solely on the seat to prevent water intrusion because I find water in the stock pipe routinely.

So the real question is how to keep water out of the hull? In the rear air intake setup (which I do not want to do), Riva makes a holder for the outerwear material. I am wondering if such a thing exists for the front or not after all the intake hoses are removed.

Do you still have yours installed?

I am not running a Riva rear air. I am running a kanaflex setup, with my air filter mounted above my fuel tank. I have never had any water intrusion on my RXP. I'm guessing at your signature that you will be running this setup on a 3-seater, and as long as the filter is above the tank, you will be fine.

As for the outerwear, I advise against it...

So your front intake is simply an open hole? BTW - I edited my sig for the new RXP purchase.

If you want to remove the plastic piece above the tank I have a rectifier bracket for sale.

Thats exactly what I was talking about. So you cut a small section and covered that with outerwear material and shoved it back in the gromet. That is what I will do. I want some balance on water intrusion, I am not trying to get the absolute most performance out of the unit.
